The Faithful Caretakers
Most have probably heard the statement, “God doesn’t necessarily call the qualified, but instead, qualifies the called.” How insignificant and unworthy each of us seem, but when viewed through the prism of how God can use us, we have purpose. The possibilities of what the Fi-Ouium Foundation could do for the academies and colleges of the Seventh-day Adventist Church is limitless. By getting involved, all can have an opportunity to ensure that our Adventist schools look good and are properly maintained.
Fi-Ouium is Latin for “Faithful Caretakers,” which encompasses the foundation’s goal of faithfully maintaining the physical plants of Adventist high schools and colleges in North America. In the logo, an infinity sign underscores the commitment of the faithful involved in Fi-Ouium who exhibits quality workmanship and excellent service. The foundation is also a 501c-3 non-profit organization which provides a charitable donation receipt for tax purposes.
The foundation will gift physical improvements to Adventist educational facilities (conference & self- supporting alike), providing maintenance for school campuses. However, it does not build new buildings. Instead, Fi-Ouium Foundation uses professional Adventist contractors to visit each educational facility, inspecting all the buildings on campus (including faculty housing), in order to determine the necessary physical improvements.
The criteria for repair will be based upon deterioration, usage, and immediacy of need. These improvements will be accomplished by using qualified contractors and supervised student labor. This cooperation enables students to contribute quality work towards the improvements of their school. It gives students the opportunity to do a “mission trip” right here in North America for the benefit of their own school.
Fi-Ouium Foundation will pay for all expenses related to the gifted improvements, including materials, student labor, building permits, insurance, and licensed professionals. This approach will be comprehensive, using the best building material, quality construction methods, and the highest attention to detail in order to teach the students and obtain the maximum functional life for the improvement.
After the free gifted project is completed, promotional pictures and videos will be available on Fi-Ouium’s website. The Alumni Association of each school will receive a report of the gifted improvements. Any future additional projects to that school will be matching, funded 75% by the alumni and 25% by Fi-Ouium. The website will also display a pie graph of each project completed, showing a breakdown of spending for each school improvement. This accountability will ensure confidence that donations were spent for their intended purpose.
